Chirton Grange

Kent, the garden of England is often overlooked by people but its many beautiful and historic places are well known to the locals, and that’s where we come in. As a Kent company we have spent many days visiting attractions, villages, gardens, castles, vineyards and the coast line just so we can share it with you. There are many choices for a day out, or even a 2 day tour around Kent so below we’ve have listed some of the choices for you and you can pick and mix to create your very own bespoke tour. Of course, if you have a choice of your own, or an interest in something specific then we are very happy to piece together something unique.

A typical day will start as you are met by your friendly driver in a Mercedes people carrier safely prepared for your safe journey. We will then head out to:

Rochester, the City that is not a City, which not only inspired the legendry Charles Dickens who lived in nearby Gads Hill, but featured in his many literary classics. See the view from one of the best preserved Norman castles in England and France overlooking the River Medway down to Chatham (now Historical) Dockyard. Appreciate the beautiful Rochester Cathedral before a coffee break in one of Rochester’s many little tea rooms. Meet a local guide for a gentle walk through this very Dickensian High Street if you want to learn more of its history.

Leeds Castle, claims to be ‘the most beautiful castle in the world’ which is all subjective and for you to decide but it cannot be argued that Leeds castle, imposing within magnificent grounds and stocked lake isn’t a contender for the self-proclaimed title. Add to this lovely gardens and a host of things for children to enjoy and time will fly by!

Dover Castle: Since the 11th century the castle has been Britain’s first line of defence from continental attack and has survived all thrown at her. From great sieges to the great wars, you will learn it all before squirreling through the tunnels to see for yourself what an important role Dover Castle played in both World War ll and the Cold War that followed.

A picturesque fishing village and harbour on the Kent and Sussex border. Spot the Martello Tower built to defend us in the Napoleonic wars. Rye’s churches, shops, pubs and restaurants make this the perfect place to spend the day.

Tenterden Steam railway and Vineyard

This evocative steam railway chugs from Tenterden, a cinque port that used to be the centre of the wool industry in the area, to remind us of a bygone age as it heads to Bodiam Castle. If requested, your driver can be waiting at Bodiam with your picnic set up ready to enjoy at your own pace before we head down towards the famous Chapel Down vineyard to sample some of their award winning wine.

Life’s a Beach

Margate and its miles of golden sands have tempted holidaying Londoners down to the very edge of the Garden of England for decades. From the beach to the Turner Art Gallery, Dreamland and all the fun of the fair, Margate is the place for all the family.

Broadstairs offers a slower pace to its big brother Margate. Here, lazy sunny afternoons are for enjoying an ice cream in earshot of the bandstand (daily during the summer period). Broadstairs has a small beach and a myriad of independent shops to browse.

Wildlife Parks

Wingham, Howletts, Port Lympne and Drusilla’s, you can keep the kids entertained all day at these amazing parks.

So, you see, we have it all! This is only a fraction of the choices to you, there are numerous other gardens, houses and vineyards to add so let your imagination run wild.

Check the restaurants in any of the visits for lunch ideas or, as it is your day after all, tell us to head to a country pub for some good old fashioned pub grub. Ahem, Kent is the beer making capital of the world with Britain’s oldest brewery so it would be considered rude not to enjoy a glass of beer or English wine, you aren’t driving after all! Or maybe a picnic is more your style, there’s plenty of room in the car for a sumptuous spread.

Fish and chips by the coast or oysters in Whitstable, walks in the Weald or beer in the garden, the choice is yours. Kent brings you history, beauty, shopping and miles and miles of coastline all from the comfort and safety of your own private car with a professional and friendly driver.
